Piece of Advice for First Year Students:

Georgia Tech has so much to offer when it comes to involvements outside of class. It can be overwhelming and really easy to over-commit! When looking at what you want to get involved in, consider trying to find something for... 1. Who you are now (This is something you loved doing in high school that you want to continue!) 2. Who you want to be (This is something you could see yourself growing in, maybe holding a leadership position or learning from Research opportunities) 3. What makes you smile (Something just for fun to take your mind off homework, where you don't feel pressure to hold a leadership position or "excel") 4. Serving your world (Community service, either on campus or somewhere else in Atlanta to remind yourself that grades aren't all that matter) You will get so much out of Georgia Tech, but try not to spread yourself too thin! This is the first time in your life that you don't have to do things just to put them on your resume. Enjoy your ability to be spontaneous!
